WHAT MAKES OUR WHISKY TOURS DIFFERENT?

Rooted in Glasgow’s History

Whisky didn’t grow in isolation. Glasgow merchants played a central role in distributing Scotch whisky worldwide during the 18th and 19th centuries. We explain the wider context — not just what’s in the glass.

Small Groups, Real Conversation

We keep numbers limited so discussions feel natural rather than performative.

Accessible Expertise

Whisky should feel welcoming. We avoid unnecessary jargon and focus on helping you taste with confidence.

Part of a Trusted Glasgow Brand

Gallus Pedals is Glasgow’s #1 rated outdoor experience on TripAdvisor. Our whisky tours sit within a wider portfolio of walking, cycling and food experiences — bringing depth and credibility to everything we do.

WHY CHOOSE A WHISKY TOUR IN GLASGOW

Glasgow is Scotland’s most culturally rich cities, yet many visitors associate whisky solely with rural distilleries. In reality, the city played a pivotal role in shaping the global whisky industry.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, Glasgow’s traders and merchants helped export Scotch whisky across the British Empire and beyond. The city’s docks and warehouses were instrumental in transforming whisky from a regional spirit into an international product.

Today, a whisky tasting in Glasgow offers something distinctive. Rather than simply touring a production site, you experience Scotland’s national drink within the very city that commercialised it.

For travellers searching for Glasgow whisky tours, the city provides the perfect setting: walkable streets, atmospheric venues and a deep cultural backdrop that enhances every dram.

A thoughtfully curated Glasgow whisky experience allows you to appreciate craftsmanship and context — and that combination is what makes it memorable.

Areas our Glasgow Whisky Tours Tours Cover

GEORGE SQUARE AND THE CITY CENTRE

So this is where most walking based tours will partly cover.  We often have a couple of spots that we like to frequent round here and this area is always covered on our public whisky tasting tours.

MERCHANT CITY: A CULTURAL HUB

This is a historic area of regeneration.  It is round this part of the city rebranded as Merchant City in the 1990 where many significant figures in the Transatlantic Slave trade used to reside.  It is now quite densely populated with lots of cafes and restaurants.  There are many Scottish whisky bars in this area so we almost always cover this area.

GLASGOW WEST END

This is many locals and visitors favourite part of the city and naturally has many eating options from traditional to modern. There are options for every kind of budget too from student friendly pricing to fine dining.  Guests can choose their food whilst we do not go here on our public whisky tasting tours, this is a popular choice for our Private Tours.
