FROM GLASGOW STORIES TO SCOTLAND EXPERIENCES

Martin (Gallus Pedals) Interview

Gallus Pedals began with a simple idea: to show Glasgow differently. Not through scripts, dry facts or generic sightseeing, but through stories, humour, local knowledge and real human connection. Our first tours were built around a fleet of refurbished ex-Post Office bikes, each named after a trailblazing Glaswegian woman whose story deserved to be heard. That origin still shapes everything we do.

Today, we’re growing beyond the bike — offering story-led experiences across Glasgow and Scotland, from walking tours, food tours and whisky experiences to private groups, trade partnerships and carefully tailored multi-day journeys. But the spirit remains the same. We create tours with character, led by genuine people who care about place, guests and the details that make an experience memorable.

We don’t do generic. We design experiences from the inside out — shaped by local voices, overlooked stories, hidden routes and the kind of warmth that makes visitors feel like locals and locals see their city again. Whether it’s two hours in Glasgow or several days across Scotland, our aim is simple: to create the highlight of your trip.

WHAT MAKES A GALLUS PEDALS EXPERIENCE DIFFERENT...

Guiding Principles in action

Whether you join us on foot, by bike, over food, whisky, or as part of a wider Scotland journey, these are the principles that shape every Gallus Pedals experience.

  • Connection – We’ll make you feel a deep connection to the place we call home. And to do that we’ve embedded Glasgow into every tiny detail. Our fleet of bikes are all named after (not so) famous Glaswegian women. When your tour is over, you’ll take home a unique life story – written in conjunction with Glasgow Women’s Library.

  • Individuality – Everyone has different values and perspectives. We’ll listen and take on board new ideas while on your tour, so that every experience and itinerary is a little bit different.

  • Fun & friendly – There’s no stuffy greetings or formalities here – first name terms is the Glaswegian – and Gallus - way. By being familiar, open, and friendly with each other, we’ll deliver a more enriching experience for everyone involved.

  • Positive impact – We believe that every business should positively impact the world. From our inception, we worked with the Cycle of Good charity to source bikes from landfill and donate to social enterprises in Africa. We’re sustainable by design, by delivering low-impact tours that all reduce motorised transport, and we partner with sustainable local businesses. To cut waste, we’ve eliminated single-use bottles, promote reusable ones, and adopted a paperless booking and waiver-signing process. We collaborate with charities like Women on Wheels and Mary’s Meals – to help provide over 2,500 school meals in the developing world – as well as supporting Bike for Good.

  • Be Gallus – Gallus is a great Scots and Glaswegian word that means ‘Bold, mischievous or cheeky’. It’s embedded in our nature, to showcase our city in the best way possible. But we’re always pushing to go further. Can we be bolder?  Can we try something brand new? Can we take this tour and make it extra Gallus? We’re always open to feedback. So, give it to us!

ANYTHING ELSE?

We're committed to being a positive force for good.  Where we can, we will aim to promote and support other sustainable organizations.  We will also seek out appropriate charitable partnerships where there exists a natural overlap of objectives and values.
